TRAMA

Benson, Sin e Stabler devono trovare un pedofilo che ha rapito due bambini dopo averne ucciso la famiglia. Lo scovano dopo una difficile 'caccia'.

A triple murder and double kidnapping leaves two children missing and SVU hot on the trail of convicted child sex offender Gitano just recently released from prison. Dr. Huang meets with Gitano's correctional therapist Dr. Greenfield who provides hours of tape indicating Gitano's sick pattern of unapologetic lying and violent sexual abuse. Going off a tip from a bank employee who encountered Gitano and the kids, SVU sets up a sting operation in a busy bus terminal. Recognizing the police presence, Gitano flips out and slashes Benson's neck before fleeing into the crowd. Stabler spots one of the kidnap victims alone and scared just a few feet away but he instead races to Benson's aid. Seconds later, the young boy is stabbed to death, Gitano flees with the remaining girl, and Benson's injuries turn out to be minor, leaving Stabler second guessing his instincts and his relationship with his partner. Angry more at himself than anything, Stabler lashes out at Benson, but Cragen's threat of suspension steers them both straight. SVU picks up Gitano's trail with the help of a cell phone GPS detector and Stabler and Benson enter an old military yard where Gitano comes out of nowhere to hold Stabler hostage with a shotgun. Defying Stabler's orders to shoot, Benson tries to pry out info about the missing girl, but when it's clear he won't talk, Benson signals to a police sniper to shoot and kill Gitano. One quick shot kills Gitano, frees Stabler, and elicits a faint cry from a young girl, which SVU follows and finds the missing kidnap victim alive and safe. However, all is not well, as Stabler and Benson's close ties to each other are clearly hurting their effectiveness as sidekicks, prompting Benson to as Cragen for a new partner.
