TRAMA
Dopo l'improvvisa ed inspiegabile morte di uno studente del Greendale, il gruppo propone di scrivere un memoriale. Durante il discorso, Jeff, pero', si fa prendere la mano rischiando di provocare una sommossa.
The gang experiences a collective shock at the news of Star-Burns' passing. Troy, Abed and Annie watch a video Star-Burns left behind in the event of his death, including "stock footage" he shot so Abed would be able to make a worthy video tribute to his life. In the study room, the group does their best to study for their biology final, but they are too distracted by the harsh reality of what just happened. Britta insists that they all just need to succumb to their emotions and go through the various stages of grief so they can finally arrive at acceptance. Met by Jeff's overly apathetic eye roll, Britta puts on some felt "star-burns" and encourages the group to ask her questions that they wish they could ask Star-Burns in what turns out to be a very flawed psychology exercise. Thankfully, the dean interrupts Britta's destructive methods, but with a somber announcement: Professor Kane resigned because of the meth lab explosion, and Biology has been cancelled. As a result, the group will have to take the class over the summer to make up the credit. The group's grief quickly evolves into a collective rage; all that work they put into this semester was for nothing! Later in the cafeteria, the school holds a memorial for Star-Burns. But one by one as the members of the study group take the stage to say a few kind words, their speeches take on a different tune, hating on Greendale and all the trouble this school has caused. The crowd gets riled up, quickly turning into an angry mob, and a worried Dean Pelton gives Chang and his army permission to use whatever force necessary to keep them under control. Pierce's declaration "Let's burn this mother down!" incites a full-scale riot, as the school trashes the Subway and all hell breaks loose. Chang's minions use unnecessary force, including pepper spray, to subdue the mob. In the aftermath, the dean approaches the group, telling them that someone is going to have to be held responsible for the damage done to the cafeteria. Pierce rightly points out that Chang should be held responsible; his army of kids was completely out of line. Chang gets wind of the dean's plan to pin it on him, and decides to take matters into his own hands. He shoots the dean with a tranquilizer gun and introduces his own "faux dean" to stand in his place. With the dean out of the picture, Chang's imminent takeover draws near. The so-called "Greendale Seven" are called in front of the board of directors to speak to the crimes that occurred the night of the riot. When Jeff tries to explain that the crimes are clearly Chang's fault, Chang strolls in holding a gift basket; he's clearly already buttered up the board in his favor. On top of that, the supposed dean makes an appearance to throw the Greendale Seven under the bus. The board's seen enough and declares the Greendale Seven expelled! The gang hangs out at Troy, Abed and Annie's apartment, letting the reality of their expulsion set in over a few slices of pizza. Abed considers the harsh reality of their situation; maybe he was wrong, and THIS is the worst timeline. Troy admits that while things are bad... at least they're all together. The mood shifts from depressing to lighthearted; timelines aside, things could sure be a lot worse!
