TRAMA
Un ex membro della squadra richiede l'intervento dei compagni per prevenire il rischio di una fusione nucleare in un vecchio reattore.
Sometimes a small break can cause a big blow up. An ancient nuclear reactor has a broken fuse. Without the gang's help, it'll cause a nuclear disaster. But the only way to prevent a melt down is to invite trouble back into Scorpion, in the form of their former colleague, Mark Collins. Collins is a genius who went off the rails. The U.S. Army finds Collins trespassing at the reactor. He rattles off formulas, getting lost in his own mutterings. But Walter knows that Collins, a radio hacker, has been listening in to secret conversations about the nuclear reactor for years. They need Collins in order to solve this case. No one's pleased about Collins return, especially Happy. She can't shake bad memories of pulling Walter out of a 10-day meltdown with Collins. Happy lets Walter know that she won't be there to save him again. Forced to work with their off-kilter former colleague, Scorpion goes to Mark's house to find the reactor recordings. At the house, they find a large, crazy contraption where Collins has been listening in to secret conversations for years. Everything from personal cell phone calls to top-secret army communications. It's obvious Collins is not in his right mind. But sometimes, you need a crazy person on your side. At the reactor, Walter finds a broken fuse; the system isn't cooling down, it's overheating. Collins found out because he overheard cell phone communication between the reactor's Head of Safety and his wife. The safety head was afraid to report the problem, so he left his job. Now it's Scorpion's problem to solve. They bring Collins back to the reactor in handcuffs to stop it from overheating and causing a nuclear meltdown. When things go awry, the gang is forced to run out of the reactor before it blows up. Walter stays back with his boss, Cabe. But in a last minute rush to escape, the doors close on Cabe, leaving him trapped inside the reactor. Will Walter be able to save his boss before he's blown to bits? They direct Cabe to go through a pipe to get out. Cabe emerges out of the ocean like some kind of superhero. Unharmed, but soaking wet in his suit. Paige finds out why Walter is carrying deep guilt about Collins. The truth is that Walter had to commit Collins to an insane asylum three years ago when Collins' intellectual ramblings grew too intense. Collins never forgave Walter and it turns out that this whole nuclear disaster is Collins' revenge. It was all a set up. It's only when Walter cracks the reactor's computer code, using the date he committed Collins to the asylum, that they're able to shut down the reactor and prevent disaster. Walter thanks Happy for pulling him away from Collins. Looks like his team does have his best interests at heart. After all they've been through, they've become a tight crew. And Walter assures Paige she's not on trial anymore. She's part of the team. They may be a band of geniuses. But they can't succeed without her.
