TRAMA
Appassionante musical drama ambientanto nel mondo dell'hip hop. Lucious Lyon, capo di un impero discografico, scopre di avere una malattia che non lascia scampo. Ora deve scegliere a quale dei suoi figli lasciare lo scettro del comando.
Lucious Lyon, head of Empire Entertainment, is about to take his company public when he is diagnosed with ALS and is given only three years to live. While keeping his medical condition secret, he decides to appoint one of his sons, Andre, Jamal or Hakeem, as his successor. Meanwhile, Lucious' ex-wife Cookie is released from prison after 17 years and demands her half of Empire, which Lucious refuses. Cookie greets youngest son Hakeem, who barely remembers her and is resentful of her. Hakeem is spoiled and spends his time chasing women and drugs, but has genuine musical talent. Cookie bonds more warmly with Jamal, her middle son, who is serious, mature, and talented, but whom Lucious despises for being gay. The eldest son, Andre, is both serious and mature, with a degree from Wharton and a job as Empire CFO. However, he has no musical talent, which Lucious considers a prerequisite to the CEO job, and he is bipolar and medicated. He and his wife are both very ambitious and are ready to turn the rest of the family against each other, and manipulate Cookie, in order to gain control.
