TRAMA
Nicki torna a Detroit in compagnia del suo nuovo fidanzato. La cosa ovviamente manda in crisi Justin che comunque accetta che la festa del fidanzamento si svolga nel suo locale.
It's just another day at the bar... except not at all. Justin's ex-girlfriend Nicki is back! Actually she has "popped in," which prompts an awkward Justin to pretend to shoot at her while yelling, "Pop! Pop! Pop!"... because that's how every guy dreams of greeting his ex for the first time. Nicki, understandably, makes a quick getaway, leaving Justin to obsess over his utter humiliation. Luckily, he has Danny there to cheer him up... and to break the news that Nicki is engaged. Danny suggests inviting Nicki back to the bar for a do-over and coaches Justin on how to not make it obvious how miserable he is without her. When Nicki stops by again, Justin hides his pain well - he apologizes for acting like a weirdo and tells her how happy he is for her - until Nicki mentions her engagement party venue just fell through... and Justin offers up the bar. "It'll be poppin'," he adds half-heartedly. While Justin obsesses over the one that got away, Brett decides to play a little game with Burski and Leslie called "How Far Would Burski Go to Hook Up with Leslie?" Turns out he'd hook up with Leslie even if it meant his entire family died or he could never see her again. The latter answer really upsets Leslie - she can't believe he'd choose hooking up with her over their friendship. At the engagement party, Nicki introduces everyone to her tech millionaire fiancé Parker. Justin awkwardly hugs him, and Danny passes him the imaginary torch once carried by his best friend. Parker thanks Justin and admits that early on in their relationship, Nicki made it clear that if Justin ever moved to Lansing for her, they were through. Justin is floored - if he'd just driven 90 minutes every weekend, he could have ended up with Nicki! Parker quickly corrects him - the drive down to Detroit was actually less than an hour. Reeling from this realization, Justin decides this is the perfect time to tell Nicki he still has feelings for her - after all, if he 's learned anything from romantic comedies, it's that wedding-related events are the perfect time to declare one's love. But before he can humiliate himself again, Danny and the gang, who have been preparing for this moment, drag him off to the office and slam the door. Justin tries to escape, but he's no match for Shelly and Danny. Danny begs him not to go back out there, explaining to Justin he can't ruin Nicki's life just because he feels lonely. There's a reason he didn't follow her to Lansing... because he knew it was the wrong thing to do. When Leslie arrives at the party, she beelines for Burski and announces her revenge is the super-sexy outfit she's wearing. If he'd just been a decent guy, maybe they would have danced or even kissed at the party. Instead, she'll be giving him the silent treatment all night. Burski tries to apologize for being an idiot, but Leslie will only speak to him through Brett. Finally Leslie agrees to hear him out and learns Burski recently went to the doctor and had to fill out the box that said "single," and it made him really sad. All he wants is to dance with her, particularly because he's a fantastic dancer. Leslie caves, but just as Burski starts to put the moves on her, Justin cuts him off. He has a speech to make. "I just wanted to say that we spend our lives looking for that special someone," Justin says. "And just like in every romantic comedy, that special someone was right in front of me all along. Nicki... actually, could you just move, because the special person's right behind you. It's you, Danny. It's always been you." He then toasts to Danny... oh yeah, and Nicki and Parker. At the end of the night, Burski finally gets his dance with Leslie, with Justin on the keyboard and Candace singing about how uncomfortable they look. Leslie leans in for the kiss... and then pulls back. "Now we're even," she laughs.
